Hundreds of families in Tower Hamlets are out of work and reliant on benefits face eviction and homelessness as a result of the government’s welfare reforms. The local housing office is facing a relentless stream of homelessness. In 2013, 8500 individuals came to the council’s emergency housing department claiming to be in urgent need of help, many of them private renters.
Come along to an afternoon of films about the housing crisis in Tower Hamlets and let’s think about how we can sort things out together. We will be showing first a brand new documentary. After that two short films will give an insight into housing activism today, fighting to combat precarious housing and social displacement.
