Housing Crisis film screening, Sat 17 May, 2-4pm

Hundreds of families in Tower Hamlets are out of work and reliant on benefits face eviction and homelessness as a result of the government’s welfare reforms. The local housing office is facing a relentless stream of homelessness. In 2013, 8500 individuals came to the council’s emergency housing department claiming to be in urgent need of help, many of them private renters.

eviction_noticeCome along to an afternoon of films about the housing crisis in Tower Hamlets and let’s think about how we can sort things out together. We will be showing first a brand new documentary. After that two short films will give an insight into housing activism today, fighting to combat precarious housing and social displacement.
