Please join us for our next THPR meeting whether you want to learn more about what we do, share a landlord problem or get involved with one of our ongoing campaigns. The meeting will be held on the lower ground floor of 236 Cable Street between 6.30 & 8pm.
It’s been a couple of months since our last meeting but a lot has happened since then: a demonstration and lobby at Town Hall, a meeting with the council inspectors clamping down on a rogue landlord we’ve been campaigning against, drafted a preferred landlord licensing scheme to present to Council and even had some local press coverage.
We’ll be feeding back on all of these as well as discussing how we can progress our campaigns to fight Michael James’ eviction and get TH Council to consider and include our landlord licensing scheme ideas.
But to kick off. we’ll be welcoming newcomers to the meeting, explaining what we do and why, and inviting people to share any landlord problems they’re having. We’re keen to document them to help build the case for changes in legislation. We may also be able to offer some practical advice, but we should not be confused with experts on housing law or council procedures.
We’ll finish up hearing about plans to protest against the international property conference MIPIM – where our government and local councils meet private developers to decide the future of our public space – that is set to take place later this year.
