Please join us one* more time to demand Tower Hamlets Council put an end to retaliatory evictions in the borough as councillors hold their monthly full council meeting.
Loyal and decent tenants face being kicked out of their homes in the run-up to Christmas for no other reason than expressing concern over unsafe living conditions unless action is taken.
We acknowledge council plans to consult and pilot a landlord licensing scheme, but private tenants such as Michael James, whose S21 expires at the end of the month, cannot wait for new legislation to be passed in 12-months time.
We are calling for the council to directly approach landlords behind retaliatory evictions and remind them callous landlords are not welcome in the borough and that the licensing scheme will be used to show them the door.
We hope you’ll join us for one* last push for this very real and all-too-common issue outside Tower Hamlets Town Hall, Mulberry Place, 5 Clove Crescent, E14 2BG, from 6,15pm to 7.15pm on Wednesday, September 10.
After we will attend the meeting to question the elected officials on what they are doing to tackle the problem.
